Volvo XC90 Excellence hybrid

Luxury automobiles are among the fastest-growing segments in the world. This growth is fueled by rising disposable incomes, easy access to loans, and improved tech-savvy. The auto manufacturers are also responding with style as they launch luxury models across all segments. Few cars justify the high price tags in a world of extravagant creations. One such car is the Volvo XC90 Excellence Hybrid, which was launched in September. What makes it special? Here’s the lowdown:

Volvo has always been on the cutting edge of green mobility. The newest version of the XC90 pushes that envelope even further. This flagship SUV was designed with hybrid propulsion in mind. The Scaleable Product Architecture platform (SPA) that it is based upon.

The XC90 hybrid is a green car that’s packed with eco-friendly technology. It has a four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The turbochargers and superchargers on the 2.0-litre machine give it an edge in terms of power. Imagine 320 PS of power and an automatic 8-speed transmission to handle it.

Volvo XC90 Excellence Hybrid continues to innovate by placing the electric motor between the front & back axles for a premium cabin experience. The lithium-ion tunnel-mounted system provides a low center of gravity, which is beneficial for handling and riding.

Volvo has equipped the hybrid XC90 model with six different driving modes. As the name suggests, the XC90’s mixed way is purely battery-powered. It has a 42-kilometre range, perfect for short trips into town.

In Hybrid, the front axles are powered by the 2.0 liter IC engine, while the electric motor powers the rear axles. With the switchable all-wheel drive, efficiency is maximized in every step.

In Power mode, the XC90 Hybrid uses both the 2.0 liter IC Motor and the 83 PS Electric motor to maximize its performance. The latter provides a near-instantaneous boost in torque, even while the petrol engine comes into play.

The XC90 Excellence Hybrid is packed with features. Automatic braking is available in the car, which detects obstacles and independently applies the brakes. This ensures that the driver, as well as those around them, are kept safe. There’s also the lane-departure warning system and the blind-spot system. Both use technology to warn the driver before they can see the car.

When you consider that the Volvo XC90 is one of the most powerful and cleanest hybrid full-size SUVs on sale, its price of 1.25 Crores seems like a bargain.
